Ingredients

  • 250 g Pasta of your preference (I used Fusilli)
  • 4 Hot Dogs, sliced
  • 1 Garlic clove, minced
  • ½ can Unpeeled, whole tomatoes
  • 100 ml Cooking cream (I used low fat, 7%)
  • 1 Tablespoon Extra-virgin olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon Dried basil
  • ¼ teaspoon Baking soda (to reduce the acidity. If you dont have it at home, replace it for ½ teaspoon sugar)
  • cups Boiling Water
  • Parmesan to garnish to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Spicy sauce (optional)

Instructions

  • Heat a deep pan over high heat. Add the olive oil and minced garlic, and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  • Stir in the tomatoes, water, cooking cream, salt, black pepper, dried basil, baking soda (or sugar), and sliced hot dogs. Mix everything well and bring the mixture to a boil.
A large pan with cooking cream, water, seasonings and cut up hot dogs
  • Add the dried pasta to the pan, then reduce the heat to medium-low. Cover the pan with a lid and let it simmer for the time indicated on the pasta package.
Tip: Check on the pasta every few minutes, stir gently to ensure it cooks evenly, and prevent it from sticking or burning at the bottom.
Simmering sauce in a large pan with lid
  • Once the pasta has cooked according to the package instructions, remove the lid and let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes without the lid to thicken the sauce.
  • Your Hot Dog Pasta is ready! Garnish with freshly grated Parmesan and chopped parsley. Serve immediately with a side of green salad for a complete and delicious meal.
