Hot Dog Pasta Ingredients
- 250 g Pasta of your preference – I used Fusilli
- 4 Hot Dogs, sliced
- 1 Garlic cloves, minced
- ½ can Unpeeled, whole tomatoes
- 100 ml Cooking cream – I used low fat, 7%
- 1 Tablespoon Extra-virgin olive oil
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- ½ teaspoon Black pepper
- ½ teaspoon Dried basil
- ¼ teaspoon Baking soda – to reduce the acidity. If you don’t have it at home, replace it for ½ teaspoon sugar
- 1½ cups Boiling Water
- Parmesan to garnish to taste
- 1 teaspoon Spicy sauce (optional)
How to Make Hot Dog Pasta
- Heat a deep pan over high heat. Add the olive oil and minced garlic, and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the tomatoes, water, cooking cream, salt, black pepper, dried basil, baking soda (or sugar), and sliced hot dogs. Mix everything well and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Add the dried pasta to the pan, then reduce the heat to medium-low. Cover the pan with a lid and let it simmer for the time indicated on the pasta package.
- Tip: Check on the pasta every few minutes, stir gently to ensure it cooks evenly, and prevent it from sticking or burning at the bottom.
- Once the pasta has cooked according to the package instructions, remove the lid and let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes without the lid to thicken the sauce.
- Your Hot Dog Pasta is ready! Garnish with freshly grated Parmesan and chopped parsley. Serve immediately with a side of green salad for a complete and delicious meal.
Recipe Tips
- Use Penne, Fusilli, or Macaroni for the best results for this one-pot recipe.
- Observe the cooking time in the pasta package and add extra minutes. It will take longer for the pasta to cook in the sauce.
