Perfect Main Course for a Winter Night.
Beef Stew with Potatoes and Carrots is definitely one of our favorite dinner recipes for a winter night. The beef is so soft, you don’t even need a knife to cut it. The vegetables complement this dish very well and they make the sauce richer. The stew is packed with earthy flavors from the potatoes and carrots, which absorb the delicious juices as they cook alongside the beef. Enhanced with onions, leek, garlic, and herbs like bay leaves and parsley. The perfect combination of melt-in-your-mouth meat and vegetables makes it a timeless favorite for family dinners.

How to Make the Best Beef Stew with Potatoes and Carrots
- Combine in a plate flour, salt, black pepper, paprika and garlic powder. Mix it. Add the meat cubes and mix it.
- In a pressure cooker, add the oil, onion, tomato paste, leek and meat and set it to medium-high heat. Cook it until the meat is sealed (around 2-3 minutes). Add the garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add 3 cups of water, the bay leaves and place the lid of the pressure cooker. Once the pot is making a sound that the pressure is on, let it cook on medium-low heat for 25 minutes.
- While the meat is cooking, peel and cut the potatoes and carrots.
- Carefully open the pressure cooker, add the potatoes and carrots. Close it again, set the heat to high until the pot gets pressure again and then reduce it to medium-low heat. Cook for another 10 minutes under pressure.
- Carefully open the pressure cooker, add Worcestershire Sauce and let it cook on medium heat for another 5 to 10 minutes, so the sauce gets richer.
- Add the parsley and serve.
Recipe Tips
Use a pressure cooker
- It is much faster to make a beef stew using a pressure cooker. However, if you don’t have one, you can still make the recipe, but you should simmer the beef from 2-4h in low heat. Add more water whenever is necessary.
- Once the beef is tender, add the potatoes and carrots and cook them for 20 minutes.
