Creamy Tzatziki

Cool and Creamy Yogurt Dip!

Tzatziki is a refreshing Mediterranean dip made with creamy unsweetened Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, olive oil, and a touch of lemon juice. This dip is packed with flavor and is perfect as a side dish, spread, or dip for vegetables, pita bread, or grilled meats like lamb or chicken. The grated cucumber adds a refreshing crunch, while the garlic and lemon bring a zesty kick, perfectly balanced by the richness of the yogurt. Often garnished with fresh dill, Tzatziki is not only delicious but also light and healthy, making it a versatile addition to any meal or appetizer spread.

Creamy Tzatziki Ingredients

  • 2 cups Grated cucumber (with the skin)
  • 1½ cups Unsweetened Greek yogurt
  • 2 Tablespoons Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1-2 Tablespoons Fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 2 Garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Black pepper

How to Make the Best Creamy Tzatziki

  1. Grate the cucumber.
  2. Remove excess water from the cucumber with your hands.
  3. Mix the yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and black pepper into a bowl.
  4. Add the cucumber, garlic, and dill.
  5. Mix everything and serve it cold with pita bread as an appetizer, or as a side to your favorite grilled meat.

Recipe Tips

  • Draining the cucumber is quite important, so your Tzatziki doesn’t turned out watery. Normally I do it using only my hands, but you can also use a paper towel or a cheesecloth.
  • I highly recommend using Greek yogurt (unsweetened) for this recipe. Greek yogurt is much thicker than regular yogurt and will provide a creamy texture and richer flavor.
  • If you have time before serving, let the Tzatziki rest inside the fridge for 30 minutes. This helps the flavors meld together.
  • When serving, you can opt to add a drizzle of Extra-virgin olive oil on top.
