Delicate, Soft, and Perfectly Runny.
Making the perfect poached eggs is easier than you might think. Poached eggs are a delicate and healthy breakfast option, known for their soft, tender whites and perfectly runny yolks. They’re made by gently cooking eggs in simmering water, ensuring the whites set without overcooking the yolk. To achieve the perfect poach, it’s important to use fresh eggs, which hold their shape better, and to add a touch of vinegar to the water to help the egg whites coagulate. Enjoy your poached eggs on top of toast or brioche bread. It also goes well with avocado, smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce.
Poached Eggs Ingredients
- Eggs
- Vinegar
How to Make Perfect Poached Eggs
- Boil water in a pot that is deep enough
- Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat and wait for the water to not have big bubbles before adding the egg
- Add vinegar and mix it
- Create a vortex in the middle and place the egg
- Leave it cooking without mixing it for about 4 minutes
Recipe Tips
- Make sure to use simmering water, not boiling water. If the water is boiling and creating bubbles, it can crack the egg. So make sure to be a gentle simmer before adding the egg to the pot.
- Create a Gentle Whirlpool with the water before placing the egg. That way, the egg will wrap around itself.
- Use fresh eggs and always crack them into a bowl first, so you can have better control when placing the egg into the pot.
- Make sure to add vinegar. It really helps prevent the eggs from spreading.
- Remove the egg with a small strainer and make sure to remove all water before serving.
