So Delicious, and Under 20 Minutes!
Having the perfect balance of savory and sweet, this juicy chicken is one of my favorite dishes of all time. It is so easy to prepare soy glazed chicken (it only takes about 20 minutes), which makes it a perfect lunch or dinner during a busy week. The sauce caramelizes during cooking, coating the chicken with a glossy, flavorful layer. This dish is often paired with white rice and vegetables of your preference, making it a satisfying meal.
Soy Glazed Chicken Ingredients
Ingredients for the chicken
- 4 pieces Boneless chicken thighs (with skin)
- 1 Tablespoon Oil
- 2 Tablespoons Cornstarch
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Ingredients for soy glazed sauce
- 2 Tablespoons Soy sauce
- 1 Tablespoon Oyster sauce
- ½ Tablespoon Chinese cooking wine
- 1 Tablespoon Brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Honey
- 3 Garlic cloves, minced
- ½ teaspoon Ginger, grated
How to Make the Best Soy Glazed Chicken
- Start by seasoning the chicken with salt and pepper to taste. Then completely coat the chicken with a thin layer of cornstarch.
- Add the oil to a medium-high heat pan. Once the oil is hot, place the chicken with the skin down. Hold the chicken down with a spoon for 20 seconds. Continue pan-frying the chicken for about 4 minutes.
- Turn the chicken and pan-fry it on the other side for about 3 minutes.
- Remove the chicken from the pan and reserve.
- Mix all the ingredients for the sauce into a bowl, and mix it well.
- In the same pan, on medium-high heat, add the sauce and bring it to a boil. Only for about 15 seconds.
- Add the chicken back to the pan and make sure to spread the sauce well. Cook it on each side for about 30 seconds on medium-high heat.
- Served it on top of rice and vegetables. You can also garnish with chopped green onions.
Recipe Tips
- Make sure to use chicken thighs with skin on for this recipe. Chicken breast will not reach the same result.
- Use high to medium-high heat when glazing to caramelize the sauce, but don’t overcook it. After 15 to 30 seconds add the chicken and mix it with the sauce.
