Vegan Tofu Teriyaki Ingredients
- 1 Block of firm tofu, sliced (200g) – half inch thick
- 2 Tablespoons Cornstarch
- 2 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
Ingredients for the Teriyaki Sauce
- 1 Tablespoon Soy sauce
- 1 Tablespoon Sake (or Chinese cooking wine)
- 1 Tablespoon Mirin
- ½ Tablespoon Brown Sugar
- 1 Garlic clove, minced
- ½ Tablespoon Ginger
How to Make the Best Vegan Tofu Teriyaki
Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce
- In a small bowl, add all the ingredients for the teriyaki sauce and mix it well. Reserve
Tofu Teriyaki
- Start by slicing the tofu. (half an inch thick)
- Coat the tofu with the cornstarch.
- In a medium-high heat pan, add the oil. Once it is hot, add the tofu. Be gently, so the tofu doesn’t break. Cook it until the bottom side is crispy and golden (about 2-3 minutes).
- Turn the tofu to cook the other side (another 2-3 minutes). Remove from the pan and reserve.
- Add all the ingredients for the tofu teriyaki to the pan. Let it simmer for 1 minute.
- Add the tofu back to the pan and make sure the tofu is completely coated with the sauce. Cook for another 3 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped green onions. Serve it immediately.
